The Work

One fascination.Different applications.

My primary territory is human behaviour. Coaching, advisory, speaking and creating are not four businesses. They are four things you can do once you understand what is actually driving people.

Coach

Executive coaching and leadership development.

Where this usually starts
  • Defensiveness that shuts a room down
  • Micromanagement nobody will name
  • Avoidance of the conversation that matters
  • Disengagement that arrived without warning
  • A reaction out of all proportion to the trigger

Highly personalised work with executives and leaders around performance, influence, communication, decision-making, relationships, team dynamics and the human challenges that come with leadership.

Most coaching starts with what a leader should do differently. This starts a step earlier, with why the current behaviour makes sense to them. Behaviour that looks irrational from the outside is almost always doing a job on the inside, and until you know what that job is, new strategies do not stick.

Who it is for. Senior leaders carrying a decision, a relationship or a pattern they cannot think their way out of alone.

Advise

Behavioural insight and strategy for difficult human problems.

Where this usually starts
  • A change programme people are quietly refusing
  • Two functions that will not work together
  • A culture problem nobody can describe precisely
  • A decision that keeps getting made and unmade

I work with leaders, teams and organizations to uncover what is actually driving behaviour before deciding what to do about it.

Most organizations are very good at designing the solution and very quick to get there. The expensive mistakes happen in the gap between what people say is going on, what is visibly going on, and what is actually driving it. Those are usually three different things.

The shift. From why are they resisting this to why does this make sense to them. The second question has answers you can act on.

Speak

Behavioural science made practical, provocative and useful.

Formats
  • 60 minute keynote
  • 90 minute workshop
  • Half day
  • Full day
  • Change advisory engagement

Keynotes, talks, facilitated conversations and sessions exploring why humans do what they do, and what understanding behaviour allows us to do differently.

Three talks currently going to market, and each one ladders from a single keynote into a longer engagement if the room wants to go further.

Create

Behavioural strategy, experience design and original productions.

What this draws on
  • Behavioural science and psychology
  • Strategy
  • Storytelling
  • Live experience and production

This work happens primarily through The Humaning Collective, where behavioural science, psychology, strategy, storytelling and experience creation come together.

Sometimes understanding human behaviour means changing what we design around it. Rooms, events, experiences and the environments organizations build for people all shape behaviour long before anyone gives a talk about it.
